Equinor selects Horizon56 RigBridge to digitalize DOPs

Equinor selects Horizon56 RigBridge to digitalize Detailed Operational Procedures (DOPs)

December 16th 2022 – Equinor and Horizon56 enters into a long-term agreement to provide Horizon56’s RigBridge™ as a “Digital DOP Authoring Tool” for Equinor’s planning and operational centres supporting offshore drilling operations. The solution will be deployed during 2023 to support all Equinor operations on the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS) which covers up to 950 users supporting around 30 rig operations.

RigBridge™ is cloud-based well planning software that allows users to create, review, approve and publish standardized and structured DOPs. It enables the handling of all associated workflows spanning different companies as part of these processes.

Once in place, Digital DOPs can be made available at a rig site via a Rig Management System, such as Horizon56 RigFlow™. Within this, rig teams can execute and track progress in real-time. By digitalizing the work processes and DOP information, teams can accelerate and improve the capture of lessons learned, receive instant updates to well plans and ensure everyone involved is aligned and working from the latest plans.

Horizon56 has worked closely with Equinor over the past year to develop and deliver the required functionality, workflows and architecture – and successfully validate both functionality and usability across deployments on several rigs.

Digitalizing the workflow and information captured in DOP’s is a critical step to drive the digitalization of drilling operations and enable connected data-flow – from well design to well planning, further rig-side operations and subsequently to drilling automation.

“Horizon56 is both excited and proud to see our technology integrated into Equinor’s drilling workflows, said Esben Thorup, Managing Director of Horizon56. “Equinor is at the forefront of adopting technology for digitalization, and the agreement is a testament to our vision and development efforts. We look forward to starting to scale the technology in close co-operation with Equinor and seeing its benefits come to fruition.”
